Three years after leaving RB Leipzig to join Chelsea, a return to the Red Bull Arena could be on the cards for the Christopher Nkunku.
The 28-year-old is expected to leave his current club, AC Milan, before the transfer window closes, with RB Leipzig making a serious effort to bring him back, according to Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano.
Leipzig are said to have contacted the player's representatives over the weekend to explore a potential deal, with Nkunku reportedly open to a reunion with his former club.
The nature of a potential deal, whether a loan or permanent transfer, is unclear at this stage, but the former appears more likely.
Nkunku recorded 126 goal contributions in 172 appearances for Leipzig between 2019 and 2023.
Die Roten Bullen are also reportedly considering a €60 million offer for 1. FC Köln's Said El Mala before the transfer window closes.
Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with the Frenchman, but whether the Black and Yellows will step up their interest after announcing the signing of Greek attacking midfielder Giannis Konstantelias on Monday appears highly doubtful.
