Leverkusen reportedly suspend Azmoun after absence from training

After missing Monday's training session without informing the club, Sardar Azmoun has reportedly been suspended by Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso.

Sardar Azmoun's decision to skip Monday's training session with Bayer Leverkusen appears to have had consequences for the Iranian striker.

According to Sport Bild, Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has decided to suspend Azmoun from first-team training with immediate effect.

Much to Leverkusen's surprise, Azmoun didn't turn up for training on Monday. It wasn't until after the session that he explained that the reason for his absence was that he wasn't feeling well.

At the same time, he's in a physical condition that needs improvement, according to the report.

Azmoun spent last season on loan at Roma. Sevilla are said to be interested in signing him, but would apparently prefer a loan deal to a permanent one.

The 29-year-old joined Leverkusen from Zenit back in January 2022. He still has three years left on his contract with Die Werkself.
