AFC Sunderland and Nottingham Forest are linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s winger Ernest Poku. The speedster joined the Bundesliga club from AZ Alkmaar for €10 million last summer.

Leverkusen are open to the transfer, with an offer of €25 million expected to close the deal. Bayer Leverkusen have sold fellow winger Amine Adli to Premier League side Bournemouth last year.

The Dutch U21 international scored five goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances as Leverkusen missed out on qualification to the Champions League. Accordingly, they will want to cash in on transfers to make up for their financial loss.

Sunderland will be in the same competition as Die Werkself since they qualified for the Europa League in their first season back in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest received over €100 million from the transfer of English international Elliott Anderson to Manchester City.
