In his latest interview with BILD, Lothar Matthäus has said he is a big advocate for Nick Woltemade joining Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians' German club legend revealed that he has been a fan of the 23-year-old for a lengthy period.

"I've been saying it for a long time: Woltemade is a player for FC Bayern. And I think it's right that Bayern are trying to get him.

"Although I think a €60million transfer fee [for Woltemade] is too low. If €80-100m had been mentioned, it wouldn't have surprised me.

“It might be good for Bayern to think ahead and get Woltemade as a false 9 for the post-Harry Kane era,” he added.

However, Matthäus stated that he feels there should be no rush from the player's end who needs time to develop further.

"If I were his management, I wouldn't be negotiating a transfer for the new season, but rather for the season after.

"Woltemade has had a dream year at VfB. Everything happened very quickly. With the Pokal win, national team in the Nations League, and now with the success with the U21s.

“At VfB, he will also get plenty of playing time next season and can develop further in calm for another year,” Matthäus said.
