According to Sky, Mainz are interested in signing AC Milan defender David Odogu, with the Bundesliga side exploring a move for the highly-rated German centre-back as we enter the last month of the transfer window.

Odogu joined the Italian giants from Wolfsburg in 2025 in a deal worth around €10 million. However, the 20-year-old has struggled to establish himself in Milan, making just two Serie A appearances during a frustrating first season in Italy.

A deal could prove difficult to negotiate, though. AC Milan are said to favour a loan move without an option to buy, indicating they still see Odogu as part of their long-term plans. Whether Mainz would be willing to accept those terms remains to be seen.

The Germany U20 international is also attracting interest from several clubs across Europe, with Belgian side Anderlecht among those monitoring his situation.
