Neuer reflects on his mistake against Greece: "I should have done better"

Manuel Neuer has reflected on the mistake that allowed Greece to open the scoring in Germany's 2-1 win on Friday.

A big mistake by Manuel Neuer led to Greece's opener in Friday's friendly at Borussia-Park, with the Germany goalkeeper letting a weak shot fall at the feet of Giorgos Masouras.

Speaking after the game, which Germany won 2-1, Neuer admitted he was largely to blame for the first goal.

"There's always more than one person involved, but I'm looking at myself now: I should have done better to clear the ball," he told RTL.

After the game, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann came to Neuer's defence, insisting that he won't allow any debate about the goalkeeping position.

"I won't allow a discussion to start, even if everyone tries. He made three good saves, everything is fine," Nagelsmann emphasized.

Talking about the game in general, Neuer said:

"We could have done better in a lot of situations, we need to do better. We created some good chances in the second half, we were in control. You could see we wanted to win the game.

Neuer and Germany open Euro 2024 against Scotland on Friday.
