Baumgart comments on reported interest in Freiburg forward
Steffen Baumgart has reacted to a report suggesting that he is keen to bring Freiburg forward Nils Petersen to FC Köln in the summer.
FC Köln coach Steffen Baumgart has commented on a Sky Germany report suggesting that he is interested in Freiburg's Nils Petersen.
Speaking to Kicker, Baumgart said that because of his long-standing relationship with Nils Petersen's father, Andreas, he's in regular contact with the Freibug striker.
Petersen hasn't started a single game for Freiburg this season and could leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.
If the 33-year-old were at Köln, he wouldn't necessarily be seen as just a substitute, Baumgart emphasized.
The former Bayern striker has scored 97 goals in 225 games for Freiburg. He has made two appearances for the German national team.
