Tobias Sippel could be headed back to the Betzenberg. The 34-year-old veteran keeper is reportedly back in the sights of his youth academy club, 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The current Gladbach back-up represented the Palatinate club from 2005 to 2015.

Germany's main sporting tabloid notes that the Pfälzer Red Devils, after losing their #1 Matheo Raab to Hamburger SV late last week, want to bring back the net minder who made 221 appearances for them. Sippel left Lautern in 2015 and has made just 11 appearances for current club Borussia Mönchengladbach.

A return to the FCK makes a great deal of sense for Sippel during this stage of his career. As Sport Bild writes, Sippel will have to accommodate the newly promoted second-division side with a significant pay cut. A chance to do something other than back-up Yann Sommer for the final days off his professional life would nevertheless certainly appeal to him.
