Wimmer to remain Stuttgart coach for the rest of 2022?

Depending on Stuttgart's result against Borussia Dortmund tomorrow, Michael Wimmer could stay as interim coach for the rest of the year, per Bild.
Michael Wimmer could remain interim coach of VfB Stuttgart for longer than initially thought.

According to Bild, Stuttgart are planning to let Wimmer stay in charge on an interim basis until the end of the year if 'Die Schwaben' beat Borussia Dortmund tomorrow.

One of the reasons is said to be that Stuttgart can't get their desired coach until after the World Cup in Qatar. Former FC Copenhagen coach Jess Thorup and current Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder are said to be the main candidates.

It also speaks for Wimmer that he has impressed after being put in charge following the sacking of Pellegrino Matarazzo. An impressive 4-1 victory over Bochum in the Bundesliga was followed up by a crushing 6-0 victory over Arminia Bielefeld in mid-week.

"Even if someone else comes in, 'Michi' is part of the solution," Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat recently told Sky Germany.
