Werner calls Keita's performance against Wolfsburg "sloppy"

Werder Bremen coach Ole Werner didn't mince his words when assessing out-of-form midfielder Naby Keita's performance against Wolfsburg.

There was a lot of excitement in the Werder Bremen camp when the club announced the signing of Naby Keita on a free transfer from Liverpool last summer.

However, it's safe to say that the former RB Leipzig midfielder has failed to live up to expectations, having made just five appearances for the club.

Keita's fifth appearance came as a substitute in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Wolfsburg, but as his coach Ole Werner was quick to point out afterwards, the Guinea international didn't make his mark on the game.

In a post-match interview, Werner described Keita's performance as "sloppy" and explained:

"It might have something to do with rhythm, match practice and physical condition. There's probably not one exact reason, but it's a combination of those things."
