Hoeness' office plays down comments about the national team
Uli Hoeness' office has played down the Bayern München president's controversial comments about the German national team.

However, when asked about the matter on Wednesday, the Bayern's president's office has played down the comments.
"Immediately after our Champions League game against Belgrade, Mr. Hoeness made statements concerning the discussion about the number one in the national team that he would not, in hindsight, make today. The topic has long been settled for him, and he doesn't want to make any further statements about it," Hoeness' office told Der Spiegel.
Last week, Hoeness backed Manuel Neuer and said that ter Stegen 'has no claim' to play for Germany.
"Ter Stegen is a very good goalkeeper. But Manuel is much better and much more experienced. He can play as long as he's fit. He will always be the best," he told Sport1.
