The Black Forest club climbed to fourth in the standings after Max Rosenfelder's maiden Bundesliga goal gave them a crucial victory in Wolfsburg.

The goal came four minutes after the half-time break as the 22-year-old center-back got in the end of Lucas Höler's deflected cross.

The hosts had a positive start to the game before Maximilian Arnold's red card shifted the momentum in the 26th minute. Wolfsburg's captain initially saw a yellow card for his challenge on Junior Adamu before VAR intervens.

After their goal, Freiburg played to hold on to their slender lead despite their man advantage. With Leipzig losing in Frankfurt, Julian Schuster’s men will spend in a Champions League spot with only three games left to play. Meanwhile, Wolfsburg will remain in the bottom half of the standings.
