Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka spoke to Das Erste interviewers after the game, where he expressed his happiness in representing the national team again.

"It definitely feels nice to be back. I'm very happy to have played here today.

"Of course it wasn't easy to be away from the national team.

"I want to look ahead and not to the past. It's a nice story that I scored a goal today," he added.

The Bayern Munich player praised the team performance and feels fans are slowly reconnecting with the national side.

"I thought we played well, we were better than the opponent even in the first-half although we conceded.

"In the second-half, we were more present in the [Italian] box.

"The team showed desire, that's what they did well in the past few months. The fans feel that we want to win," he concluded.
