Kleindienst certain to start against Italy

Jonathan Burkardt missed Germany’s final training session ahead of tomorrow’s decider against Italy. Tim Kleindienst will most likely replace him in the starting XI.

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Tim Kleindienst will most likely lead Germany’s attack against Italy in Dortmund tomorrow. Kleindienst made an immediate impact on Thursday after entering the field at half-time in a 2-1 first-leg win in Milan.

He now has to do it from the start, however. Mainz’s top-scorer Jonathan Burkardt is a doubt to feature in the matchday squad after missing their last training session on Saturday. Both strikers scored 15 goals so far in Bundesliga.

Kleindienst has three international goals from his first five caps. When he was asked about Leroy Sane keeping his place for tomorrow’s game, Julian Nagelsmann didn’t rule out making changes to his side.
