Confirmed: Union Berlin sign Leverkusen striker on loan
Joel Pohjanpalo has joined Union Berlin from Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.
Union Berlin have confirmed the signing of Finnish international striker Joel Pohjanpalo on loan from Bayer Leverkusen. Pohjanpalo's loan deal includes an option to buy.
After spending the 2019/20 season on loan at Hamburger SV, scoring nine goals in 14 2. Bundesliga games, the 26-year-old moves to Berlin for the rest of this season.
"Joel is a player who is always dangerous in front of goal so we are happy to add him to our squad," said Union Berlin director of professional football Oliver Ruhnert.
"He fits perfectly into the requirements of our profile, he is physically robust and has proven his goalscoring ability in the past. We have always emphasised that we wanted to sign another striker and are sure Pohjanpalo will be good for the squad."
