Hoeness: 'The national team will only be good again if Bayern are good'

Uli Hoeness says the success of Bayern München is pivotal to a successful German national team.
Bayern München president Uli Hoeness is aware that a large percentage of the German national team consists of players from his club.

Therefore, Hoeness says, the German national team is dependent on a successful Bayern München side if they are to bounce back from the disappointing group stage exit at the World Cup in Russia.

"I only know that the national team will only be good again if Bayern are good. And we have to work on that," Hoeness said according to Die Welt.

"Of course you need to change something. But from my perspective, the most important thing is that the team should work harder and not put as many things in the hands of faith as they did in Russia," the Bayern president said.

German national coach Joachim Löw will name his squad for the coming fixtures against France (September 6) and Peru (September 9) today.
