FC Köln confirm the signing of Max Meyer

FC Köln have confirmed the signing of Max Meyer, who was a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace.
Former Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer has joined FC Köln on a contract until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old was a free agent after being released from his contract with Crystal Palace earlier this month.

"The deal was only made possible because Max was extremely accommodating to us financially. He can be used in midfield in several positions, is a very intelligent player, very secure on the ball and likes to finish off chances himself. That's what Max wants to bring to us until the end of the season, proving his qualities in the Bundesliga again," said FC Köln managing director Horst Heldt.

Meyer never managed to make the desired impact at Crystal Palace following his move to England from Schalke in 2018.

He made a total of 56 appearances for the Premier League outfit, scoring twice and making three assists.
