Germany coach Joachim Löw is 'looking forward to getting to know Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz even better' after including the two youngsters in his squad for the first time.

Bayern München's Jamal Musiala and Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz could both be in line to make their debuts for Germany's senior team after being included in Joachim Löw's side to face Iceland, Romania and North Macedonia this month.

In quotes published on the German Football Association's website, Löw has explained his decision to hand first call-ups to the two highly-rated youngsters.

"We are looking forward to getting to know Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz even better. They have earned their call-up with recent good performances. But especially with such young players, it's part of our responsibility to bring them up to the highest level carefully and step by step," said Germany coach Joachim Löw.

"Both have huge potential, and I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun with them in the coming years. But at the moment it is important not to rush things, they should be allowed to develop calmly and carefree. I think that the next few days will be a good experience for Jamal and Florian."

At the age of 17 years old, Wirtz could become the third-youngest Germany international behind Willy Baumgartner (17 years, 102 days) and Marius Hiller (17 years, 239 days) if he features against Iceland on 25 March.

Musiala, who just turned 18, could become the fourth-youngest German international if he makes his debut in the same game, making his way into the list behind Hamburger SV legend Uwe Seeler.
