At his official presentation on Monday, Christian Ilzer explained his decision to leave Sturm Graz to become the new coach of TSG Hoffenheim.
The 47-year-old, who has replaced the recently sacked Pellegrino Matarazzo, said:
"The Bundesliga is the goal of every Austrian coach. This is where you want to work. I know [Hoffenheim managing director for sport] Andi Schicker and we have worked together very successfully.
"I knew I wanted this. You don't get a chance like this very often, so I wanted to take it. I didn't have to think about it for a long time, but rather in a short and intensive way. Deciding to join TSG did not take long.
“I am delighted to be here. We want to establish ourselves in the big stadiums. We want to create a good home atmosphere with our style. We want to play attractive and successful football.”
Ilzer's first game in charge will be against RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
