Nagelsmann denies influence on Gerland's Bayern departure

Julian Nagelsmann insists Herrmann Gerland's departure from Bayern München has 'nothing to do' with him.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Hermann Gerland will be leaving his job as assistant coach at Bayern München after spending a total of 25 years at the club.

It was speculated that new Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann influenced the decision to part ways with Gerland, but the 33-year-old denies that is the case.

"The fact that Hermann doesn't want to stay has nothing to do with me. In part, that was completely misinterpreted," Nagelsmann told Sport Bild.

"I told the club that I would like to take two assistant coaches and an analyst with me. But I never said that I didn't have room for a certain staff member or that someone wasn't wanted."
