It seems set in stone that Xabi Alonso will leave Bayer Leverkusen at some point in the future - the only question is when.

According to a recent report from Eurosport, a move to Real Madrid is on the cards for the Spaniard next summer.

But while Alonso's departure may be orchestrated behind the scenes, Leverkusen midfielder Robert Andrich doesn't have the impression that the 42-year-old has already moved on mentally.

"We don't have the feeling that Xabi is thinking about leaving Leverkusen," Andrich told Sky Germany.

“There are always rumours about players and when it's a coach, it's even more talked about. He gives us the feeling that he is always at the top of his game with our team and still wants to achieve a lot with the club.”

Another key Leverkusen figure who has been linked with a move away from the club is Florian Wirtz.

On the possibility of the 21-year-old leaving at the end of the season, Andrich said:

“Everyone knows how good Flo is, how consistent he is for his age, how quickly he got back to such a high level after his injury. I'm sure he's ready for the next step. Whether he goes next summer or the summer after that... that's written in the stars.”
