Official: Borussia Dortmund and Sergio Gomez part ways

Borussia Dortmund and Belgian side RSC Anderlecht have agreed a transfer for Spanish midfielder Sergio Gomez.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the fee for the young Spaniard is €1.5m and Gomez has signed a 4-year contract with the Belgian giants.

Gomez has been away from the Signal Iduna Park for the last 2 seasons, being back in Spain on loan at SD Huesca. He helped Huesca gain promotion to La Liga in the 2019/20 season and this good form saw Huesca extend the loan for another season. But game time was hard to come by for Sergio, limited to 768 minutes on the pitch for Huesca as they were relegated straight after coming up.

It was reported earlier this month that incoming Dortmund head coach Marco Rose did not envision Sergio Gomez being part of his plans for the next season, and Ruhr Nachrichten reported earlier this week that the BVB officials had 2 offers for the 20-year-old.

Gomez becomes the 3rd player to officially leave Borussia Dortmund this summer alongside Lukasz Piszczek and Jeremy Toljan. Argentinian defender Leonardo Balerdi looks set to leave as well as Marseille have agreed a deal to sign the young defender permanently following a loan this season. Marius Wolf and Immanuel Pherai are 2 more names that are not part of Marco Rose's plans and they look set to leave the club this summer as well.
