Following his retirement from professional football at the end of the 2025/26 season following injury struggles, former Borussia Dortmund defender Niklas Süle has announced his next challenge by joining Kreisliga side SV Tiefenbach.
The 30-year-old’s arrival is expected to go down as the most remarkable signing in the club’s history, with Süle having been playing Champions League football as recently as last season.
Speaking to Sky, Süle explained his decision:
“I’m really looking forward to experiencing football from a completely different perspective again – where it’s purely about the game itself and not about business or money. Two of my best friends play for SV Tiefenbach, and one of them is even the coach. After 13 years in professional football, it’s an absolute gift to share the pitch with my mates again and simply enjoy this wonderful sport to the fullest.”
