Julian Brandt completed his move to Ajax Amsterdam on Friday after the Eredivisie side beat Leeds United to sign him. The Premier League club were leading the race at one point, but Brandt has now committed his future to Ajax.

The 30-year-old left Borussia Dortmund after the end of his contract last summer. The former Germany international signed a contract at Ajax until 2029. Brandt will be Ajax’s ninth German player, with Diant Ramaj, Heiko Westermann and Amin Younes also playing for the traditional club in the 21st century.

There will soon be another German signing by Ajax with Marc-André ter Stegen set to sign from FC Barcelona. The goalkeeper agreed to rejoin his ex-Girona coach Michel, with the move expected to be completed in the coming days.
