AS Roma have confirmed the signing of Manu Koné on a permanent basis from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The Italian Serie A side have paid a reported 18 million to sign the French midfielder, who departs Borussia-Park after three years at the club.

“Manu Koné has shown both here and most recently at the Olympics what an amazing player he is. Even though you never want to lose someone of his quality, this transfer is symbolic of our philosophy. We want to thank Manu for his time at Borussia and wish him all the very best for the future both on and off the pitch,” said managing director for sport Roland Virkus.

Koné joined Gladbach from Toulouse in the summer of 2021 and went on to feature 86 times for the club. Commenting on his move to Roma, he said:

“My journey at Borussia, which has taken me all the way to the national team, has now come to an end. I have had three incredible and educational years at this club and want to thank all of my teammates, the management and the fans for the time I’ve spent here."
