Miroslav Klose has been named the new head coach of FC Nürnberg.

Former Germany and Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose has taken on a new job.

On Tuesday, 2. Bundesliga outfit 1. FC Nürnberg confirmed the arrival of Klose as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

Klose, who last coached Austrian side SCR Altach between July 2022 and March 2023, commented:

"Tradition, passion, honest work, great fans - these are all things that I love about football and that I associate with FC Nürnberg. That's why I took the opportunity to coach here immediately.

“With its work with young talent, the club has a great foundation that we want to build on. I have known and respected [sporting managing director] Joti [Chatzialexiou] for many years. We are on the same wavelength when it comes to people and the way we think about football. Now it's time to get going, get to work and get the season off to a good start.”

FC Nürnberg sporting managing director Joti Chatzialexiou added:

"Miro is an extremely meticulous and detail-oriented coach who has not only experienced and learned a lot during his successful playing career, but has also developed a clear idea as a coach of how to be successful in football and what it takes on the pitch and in the dressing room."

The club finished 12th in the 2. Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season.
