SC Paderborn continued their preparation for their first Bundesliga season since the 2019/20 season with a 3-1 win over J1 League side Fagiano Okayama in Kirchbichl, Austria. Veteran striker Sven Michel scored twice as he prepares for his ninth season with the club.

The match was played in four 30-minute quarters as Ralf Kettemann used 26 players in total. Michel was on the pitch only for the first 45 minutes, but he scored twice in the space of five minutes just before his substitution.

Yuta Kamiya pulled one back for the Japanese before Sebastian Klaas sealed Paderborn's third win of the pre-season. Stefano Marino, who signed from Hannover II last summer, scored a brace for Paderborn when they secured a comeback victory over Hannover in last week’s friendly.

Including Oliver Batista Meier, Luka Duric, Jano ter Horst and Tom Baack, several summer signings played for the newly-promoted side in their only fixture at their training camp in Austria. Paderborn will play away at Mainz in the opening round of the new Bundesliga season.
