FC St. Pauli have completed the signing of Mathias Rasmussen, with the Norwegian midfielder making the move from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. The transfer marks a reunion between Rasmussen and St. Pauli head coach Alexander Blessin, who worked closely together during a successful spell in Belgium.

Rasmussen featured prominently under Blessin at Union SG, playing 53 matches during their time together and becoming a key part of a side that challenged at the top of the Belgian league. That shared history is believed to have been a decisive factor in St. Pauli’s move, with Blessin keen to add a player already well-versed in his tactical ideas.

The 28-year-old is a versatile midfield option, capable of operating in deeper roles or pushing forward when needed. Known for his work rate, game intelligence and composure under pressure, Rasmussen is expected to add both stability and flexibility to St. Pauli’s engine room as they navigate the demands of the Bundesliga.
