It was announced late on Monday that David Raum will be unable to join his Germany teammates this month due to injury.
The RB Leipzig defender has since undergone a scan, which has revealed that he has suffered an ankle ligament injury.
As a result, he will undergo surgery on Wednesday morning and will be out for a long while.
According to Bild, Raum will be sidelined for at least six weeks, meaning it's unlikely he'll be back on the pitch in 2024.
“Unfortunately, I've come away from the game in Heidenheim with this injury and will now have to have an extended spell on the sidelines. I love this sport and I'm just looking forward to getting back out onto that pitch again,” said Raum.
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has called up Robin Gosens to replace him.
