Spanish outlets AS and Marca report Bernd Reichert is on the verge of joining Real Madrid as “Head of Business”. The former CEO of A22 Sports Management, who were behind the European Super League model, will be responsible for stadium management, sponsorship, and merchandising at the record Champions League winners.

Kicker confirmed the reports by citing the Spanish platforms as they added the German will directly report to Real Madrid CEO José Angel Sanchez in his new role. The Spanish giants – and their fierce rivals FC Barcelona – were among the big supporters of the Super League plan before UEFA succeeded in keeping their throne.

This latest development further confirmed the end of the Super League initiative as UEFA and Real Madrid also settled their lengthy legal dispute back in February. Reichert had previously worked as the CEO of RTL Germany and in a managerial position at VOX.

Kicker added he has been living in Spain since 2003 in addition to studying at the University of Salamanca in the late 1990s.

Despite ending the last two seasons empty-handed on the pitch, Real Madrid are still in a powerful financial position as they completed their second most expensive transfer with the signing of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in the summer.
