Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck has returned to individual training with the ball as he continues his recovery from the ankle injury he suffered while playing for Germany at the World Cup.
“Schlotti is doing exercises on the pitch, of course all isolated, without opponents or teammates,” Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovač explained at a press conference on Thursday.
The 26-year-old is expected to gradually increase his workload over the coming days.
“There must be no setbacks. That’s why we’re building him up carefully,” Kovač said.
The Dortmund coach is hopeful Schlotterbeck could return to full team training soon.
“I can’t promise it, but I hope that we’ll have him in team training within the next one or two weeks.”
