Bayern Munich assistant coach Aaron Danks has provided an encouraging update on Vincent Kompany's condition following the head coach's collapse on Friday.

Kompany was absent from the touchline for Bayern's Bundesliga encounter with SC Freiburg on Sunday, with Danks taking charge of the reigning champions in his place.

The Belgian was hospitalised after collapsing while watching Bayern's reserve team train on Friday, with the club subsequently confirming that he would require time away from his duties.

However, speaking to DAZN ahead of Sunday's clash at Europa-Park Stadion, Danks offered positive news regarding the 40-year-old's recovery.

"The feedback is really positive at the moment," the Englishman explained.

"He's stable, he's getting a little better every day. Tests are still ongoing, but the signs are really positive."

Danks also revealed that he had deliberately avoided discussing football with Kompany, allowing the Bayern boss to concentrate on his recovery.

"I kept my promise. I haven't spoken to him about football at all," he said.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl had previously indicated that Kompany's absence was likely to be measured in weeks rather than days, with no definitive return date established.

Meanwhile, Freiburg head coach Julian Schuster also expressed his sympathy for his counterpart before Sunday's fixture, wishing Kompany a full recovery.

Danks will continue to oversee Bayern's preparations in Kompany's absence, with the club hopeful that the positive signs surrounding his condition will continue.a
