Werder sign German U20 international

SV Werder Bremen have sealed the capture of Keke Topp from Schalke 04.

After three years with Schalke 04, 20-year-old forward Keke Topp returns to Werder Bremen.

Topp, who left Werder's academy to join Schalke in 2021, is back with his boyhood club, who have paid a reported €2 million to sign him.

“Keke has developed well over the last few years. He’s demonstrated his ability during his time at Schalke 04, and we’re certain that has a lot of potential which we’re eager to work together to uncover. Keke is a Bremen boy at heart, so he shouldn’t find it too difficult to get settled in here,” said Werder managing director for sport Clemens Fritz.

Topp, a German U20 international, commented:

“I’m really pleased to return to Werder. I had great conversations with the club and they gave me a really good feeling about it all. I believe that Werder are moving in the right direction and I want to play my part in this development.”

The young striker scored five goals in the 2. Bundesliga in 25 matches last season.
