Kaiserslautern finished almost half of their 2. Bundesliga games goalless after seven matchdays as they failed to find a breakthrough against Heidenheim. The hosts previously won their first three games at Voith-Arena before their underwhelming performance on Friday evening.
Semih Şahin hit the crossbar with a deflected effort in the best chance of the first-half for the hosts. Substitute Ibrahim Kanate thought he broke the deadlock twenty minutes before time, but it was ruled out for an offside.
Thomas Dähne then made his best save of the game to deny another substitute Alex Murphy. There was also an injury-time chance for Erencan Yardımcı, who scored Kaiserslautern’s winner against Braunschweig before the international break.
Heidenheim could drop from the top three if Wolfsburg end Nürnberg’s unbeaten start to the season. Kaiserslautern remain two points behind the hosts in the standings as they fail to convert their chances at Voith-Arena.
