2. Bundesliga: Miyoshi double fires Bochum to victory in Dresden

Uwe Rösler’s side made the perfect start and raced into a two-goal lead through Miyoshi, although Ben Bobzien pulled one back before half-time to give Dresden hope. Bochum ultimately held firm after the break to claim a valuable away victory.

Bochum got off to a dream start just four minutes in through Miyoshi. The visitors pressed Dresden high up the pitch, with Nicolai Rapp losing possession to Enis Cokaj, who played the ball through to the Japanese winger. Miyoshi then kept his composure to finish coolly one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

As Dresden desperately searched for a response, Bochum struck again after 25 minutes through the same man. Early substitute Tom Meyer found Miyoshi with a ball through the defence, with the winger confidently slotting past Tim Schreiber to make it 2-0. Bochum’s high press had once again paid dividends.

Dresden found a way back into the game four minutes before the break. Niklas Hauptmann picked out Bobzien on the left, with the attacker finding space before magnificently curling his finish into the bottom corner past Timo Horn to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

Bochum continued to push for a decisive third goal after the restart, with both Mats Pannewig and Philipp Hofmann coming close. Hofmann went closest when his effort struck the post following a scramble inside the box, but the score remained 2-1 to keep the hosts within touching distance.

Dresden came agonisingly close to an equaliser in the 68th minute, with the woodwork denying them. Thomas Stamm’s side won the ball back high up the pitch before Vincent Vermeij laid it off to Tobias Raschl, whose effort cannoned back off the left post.

As the clock ticked down, Bochum managed the closing stages effectively and offered Dresden little opportunity to find a way through. Rösler’s side held on to claim a vital away victory that could provide the perfect springboard for a season in need of a positive start.
