Bayer Leverkusen have yet to secure a replacement for Florian Wirtz, who is close to joining Liverpool.

When they do, the new signing is likely to come from Real Madrid, where now former Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is in charge.

That's according to Sport Bild, who reports that Leverkusen have two main candidates lined up to replace Wirtz.

The leading option is Nico Paz, technically a Como player, but with Real Madrid holding a buyback clause reportedly worth €8 million.

If Real exercise this option and then sell him to Leverkusen, a transfer fee of around €30 million would likely be required.

If signing Nico Paz proves unfeasible, Leverkusen may turn their attention to Arda Güler, according to the German publication.

The 20-year-old Turkey international could move on in search of more playing time after starting just 14 league games last season.
