Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has revealed that Sacha Boey is close to returning to team training.
The French right-back, who has been sidelined since suffering a torn meniscus in September, is making good progress in his recovery.
“Sacha Boey is training with the ball again and will join team training in the coming days. We hope he can be available again soon,” said Freund ahead of Bayern's DFB-Pokal away game against Mainz on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Hiroki Ito and Josip Stanisic, who both suffered injuries at the start of the season, still need a little more time.
“Hiroki Ito had a little setback but is now making progress again. We hope he can re-join near the international break. With Josip Stanisic it'll still be a while," revealed Freund.
After a sensational second-round DFB-Pokal exit at the hands of third-division Saarbrücken last season, Freund and the Bavarians will be hoping for a much better cup run this time around.
“Last year was disappointing. Our goal is to win tomorrow, to get to Berlin. Anything can happen in the cup. We need to be ready for that tomorrow. We want to progress,” Freund said.
