Eberl and Kompany provide Musiala update ahead of Pokal clash

It was confirmed earlier by Sky Germany that Bayern Munich would be without Jamal Musiala for this evening’s DFB-Pokal clash away to VfL Osnabrück.
Musiala has missed Bayern’s first two games of the season after suffering two collapses caused by absence seizures linked to a neurological condition during pre-season.
Sporting director Max Eberl provided an update ahead of the game, stating:
“With Jamal, after the last two incidents, we are trying to achieve a certain reduction in the frequency of his seizures. Of course, the big hope is that they disappear completely, but that’s difficult. For now, the focus is on reducing the frequency of the seizures and once we achieve that, he can return to the pitch with us.”
When asked about the possibility of Musiala returning to the squad on Saturday, head coach Vincent Kompany replied:
“Perhaps. But I don’t want to put any more pressure on him. He’s doing well, he’s getting better. If things continue this way, it won’t be long.”
Attention will now turn to Musiala’s availability for Bayern’s trip to Schalke in Saturday evening’s Bundesliga Topspiel.
