Lennart Karl failed to pull off a double step-over in the second half of Bayern Munich’s 5-1 win over Hoffenheim on Sunday, accidentally flicking the ball out of play with his own heel.

A clip of the incident quickly went viral on social media, drawing plenty of jokes at the 17-year-old’s expense.

Karl has generally experienced a dip in form in recent weeks – at least when it comes to goal involvement – recording just one assist in his last six Bayern appearances.

That, however, appears to be of little concern to the youngster.

“I just need to keep giving 100 percent. You can’t always deliver perfect performances. If I keep pushing in training and in matches, the good performances will come again. I’m 17 years old. I'll just keep going,” Karl told Sport1.

The young talent will get his next chance to impress when Bayern Munich face RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.
