Thirty-seven-year-old Bundesliga veteran Makoto Hasebe often dons the captain's armband for Eintracht Frankfurt. Such was the case on Saturday as well after Sebastian Rode was subbed off at the half in the SGE's win. Unfortunately for the veteran leader, his own keeper Kevin Trapp accidentally delivered a brutal knee directly to his ribs while attempting to claim a Borna Sosa late in the match.

The injury appeared quite serious. Hasebe required an extended treatment break that lasted nearly three minutes. Stuttgart fans whistled what they initially perceived to be a time wasting tactic on behalf of the leading team. Hasebe nevertheless couldn't stop grabbing his chest and needed assistance to leave the pitch on his own two feet.

After the match, Eintracht released a statement saying that the Japanese international was on his way to the hospital with a suspected fractured rib. During his post-match interview, SGE head-coach Oliver Glasner conceded that the nature of the injury might "keep him out for awhile."
