Sky Report:
Schalke the latest German club to inquire about Roma's Amadou Diawara

Sky Germany reports that FC Schalke 04 are among the latest Bundesliga clubs to express interest in bringing 24-year-old Guinean international Amadou Diawara to the Bundesrepublik on loan.
Amadou Diawara.
Amadou Diawara.
Ever since one-time "super prospect" Amadou Diawara switched his professional representation to the Grünwald based ROOF consulting agency in late April, speculation has been rampant that the AS Roma man might be in for a loan-stint in Germany. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Borussia Mönchengladbach, SC Freiburg, and FC Augsburg are among the clubs linked with the 24-year-old.

Diawara remains contractually bound to I Giallorossi through 2024, but is in desperate need of playing time in order to halt his career's slide. The Italian Serie A side paid S.S.C Napoli some €21 million for the Guinean international in 2019. Since then, he's fallen out of the first-team and seen his market value tumble to €6 million.

Diawara has made just 66 appearances for the capital city side over the last three seasons. The player has barely featured under the coaching regime of Jose Mourinho and has repeatedly stated that he wishes to move to another club. Both Sky Germany and Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio report that newly promoted FC Schalke 04 are the latest German side to express interest.

From a personnel standpoint, however, a loan deal in Gelsenkirchen still wouldn't appear to make a great deal of sense. The Königsblauen presumably already have their preferred double-six midfield duo in the form of recent signings Tom Krauß and Florent Mollet. Both the Italian and German source report that negotiations have not progressed very far.

Any sort of contact nevertheless seems certain to keep Diawara's name churning in the German football rumor mills. After making just eight appearances under Mourinho last season, the player is surely on the move somewhere.
