VfB Stuttgart veteran Mario Gomez is known for scoring goals, but it's just not working out for him at the moment.

Gomez hasn't scored in the last five games, and the 33-year-old believes somebody else should get the chance instead of him if his goal drought continues.

"Maybe someone else should play instead of me. I just want us to win, it's not about me," Gomez told Kicker.

In Friday's 0-2 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, Gomez missed a great chance, but was otherwise barely visible. According to Stuttgart defender Andreas Beck, the rest of the team need to provide better service for the veteran striker.

"Mario is our key player. But he's not a player who takes the ball in midfield and runs past everyone. We need to do more to get him involved," Beck said.

Meanwhile, Stuttgart coach Markus Weinzierl says he's not worried that Gomez will start finding the net again eventually.

"Mario has had a 100 percent chance in each game. The important thing is that he gets the chances. Eventually, he will score again."

Gomez has scored three goals in 13 appearances for Stuttgart this season.
