Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany was proud of his players after they beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 to progress to the last eight of the Champions League with a 5-0 aggregate win.

"I think the boys showed again today how hungry they are and what they want to achieve," Kompany told Prime Video and went on to analyze the game:

"In the first half we played our normal pressing game and had good depth. Then we had two or three good chances. We knew we wouldn't get many clear-cut chances, but we definitely created them in the first half. That was positive, as was the fact that we didn't give anything away.

“In the second half it was all about defending. They put a lot of attacking players on the pitch. Sometimes you can't keep all your attacking players on the pitch yourself. But we were still very dangerous on the counter-attack and defended well from crosses and corners. It was a good balance.”

Kompany us now “very much looking forward” to the quarter-final tie against Inter.

“But there are still a few games in between, and it's our job as coaches to always prepare for the next game. During the international break we'll definitely be looking at what our opponents have to offer. We're in this competition because we want to play against the best - now Inter, we're looking forward to it,” he said.
