Despite the fact that he may not appear in a Bayern tricot for the duration of the season, Germany's record champions are apparently prepared to seal a long-term arrangement with French defender Lucas Hernandez. The French international, often the subject of outgoing transfer rumors, will reportedly ink a new deal to keep him in Bavaria through 2027.

The 26-year-old joined the FCB in the summer of 2019 for a record transfer fee of €80 million. Hernandez has since made 74 league appearances for Bayern in the intervening three-and-half seasons, scoring no league goals but still pocketing six assists. Various injuries limited his involvement to seven league deployments this year.

The natural center-halve, who also frequently works as a left-back, has seen his estimated market worth downtick to €50 million. Hernandez's current deal was set to expire after next year. Portuguese transfer expert Pedro Almeida notes that negotiations on the new contract are all wrapped up.
