Leverkusen officially unveil Stanisic

Bayer 04 Leverkusen confirmed Croatian fullback Josip Stanisic's loan out from FC Bayern München on Sunday evening.
After having completed his medical this weekend, fullback Josip Stanisic was officially unveiled as a Bayer 04 Leverkusen player on Sunday evening. The 23-year-old will spend the season on loan with Germany's red company team. As reported upon earlier, the deal does not include a purchase option. Leverkusen now have both fullback positions double stacked on their roster.

Stanisic nevertheless can also work as a central defender or in defensive midfield. Leverkusen chief personnel executive Simon Rolfes noted Stanisic's versatility in his statement accompanying the signing. Rolfes' words seemed specifically geared at emphasizing that Stanisic's signing would not lead to the sale of Jeremie Frimpong.

"Josip Stanisic is already very experienced in the Bundesliga and Champions League," Rolfes noted in a statement released on the club's website, "he is technically strong, playfully intelligent, and can be deployed in several defensive positions. With Josip's signing, the competition in our squad will be intensified once again. He is a very ambitious player who will further enhance the quality of the squad."

"You have clear ideas here and an exceptional environment," the Croatian international himself noted,  "I'm really looking forward to the Werkself - they were already one of the most exciting teams in the Bundesliga for me last season."
