Borussia Mönchengladbach have secured the signing of Breel Embolo from Schalke 04, the club have announced.

The Swiss striker has put pen to paper on a contract until 2023.

"We have known Breel Embolo for several years now and have of course continued to observe him during his time with Schalke," Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl told the club's website and added:

"In the past three years, Breel has been very unlucky with two quite serious injuries suffered in games, and of course we have also looked at his state of health in detail.

"We are convinced that we can give him a new start here and that we will have a lot of fun with him. He's a fast, powerful striker who is dangerous in front of goal and who fits veyr, very well into our squad."

According to reports, Gladbach have paid €10 million plus bonuses for the 22-year-old.
