Friedhelm Funkel backs Dodi Lukebakio to be a success at Hertha
Dodi Lukebakio has been backed to be a success at Hertha BSC by his former coach Friedhelm Funkel.
Fortuna Düsseldorf coach Friedhelm Funkel is confident Dodi Lukebakio will make his mark at Hertha BSC.
Lukebakio, who was brought to Hertha from Watford for a club-record fee of €20 million, is yet to reproduce the performances that made him a favourite on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf last season.
But Funkel feels certain the 22-year-old will continue his impressive devlopment at Hertha.
"I can only say good things about him," Funkel told Sport Bild and added:
"He didn't immediately start every game for us either. He has to be patient.
"I'm sure Hertha won't be his last club. Dodi will eventually end up at a club that plays in the Champions League every year. But for now, he's in good hands in Berlin," he said.
Lukebakio scored 14 goals and made five assists in 34 appearances for Fortuna Düsseldorf.
