Hansi Flick: Philippe Coutinho puts too much pressure on himself
Philippe Coutinho puts himself under too much pressure to impress, says Bayern coach Hansi Flick.
Bayern München coach Hansi Flick says Philippe Coutinho makes the wrong decisions at times because he's trying too hard to show what he's capable of.
"He's an exceptionally gifted player. Sometimes he puts a bit too much pressure on himself," Flick told reporters ahead of Bayern's Champions League clash with Chelsea on Tuesday.
"He tries to put his stamp on the game when he plays, but not all decisions he makes are the right ones at the moment. We will continue to support him. I think highly of him, as a football and as a person," he continued.
Speaking on Monday, Bayern München CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that the Brazilian international "gives the impression that he's inhibited" at times.
Coutinho has scored seven goals and made eight assists after joining Bayern on loan from FC Barcelona last summer.
