Schalke 04 star Amine Harit has attracted criticism after he was spotted at a bar in Essen at around 1.30 am on Thursday night despite the coronavirus pandemic, which has seen the German government urge all citizens to minimize social contact and stay at home if possible.

"It was a mistake. He has realized that now," Schalke 04 head of sport Jochen Schneider told Bild and added:

"I explained seriousness of the current situation to him once again. In this terrible crisis situation, things that were normal yesterday can no longer be tolerated today. Amine is very sorry, and it will not happen again."

According to Bild, Harit got off with a verbal warning.
