Schalke 04 boss demands improvement after 'unacceptable' 8-0 thrashing

Schalke must show a reaction after their humiliating 8-0 loss to Bayern München, says head of sport Jochen Schneider.

Schalke 04 head of sport Jochen Schneider didn't sugarcoat things after his side's embarrassing 8-0 defeat against Bayern München in Friday's Bundesiga opener.

"Yesterday's performance in Munich was unacceptable, there are no two opinions about that. A Schalke team can't play like that. We weren't playing with the aggressiveness and cleverness needed against the current best team in the world. In addition, there were numerous individual mistakes," said Schneider.

Schalke coach David Wagner and his team now have a week to prepare for Saturday's home game with Werder Bremen, and Schneider demands to see a reaction.

"The coaching team around David Wagner will analyze the mistakes and address them clearly in order to then focus on the home game against Werder Bremen. We have to show the right reaction at home, hopefully in front of our fans. I expect a significant improvement in performance and the result should reflect that."
